What happens in a coaching session?
  • The first step is to make contact, and I'll get back to you for a no pressure chat. I'm very easygoing and friendly, and will answer any questions - for me there aren't any 'dumb questions'.
  • You'll get a good sense of the kind of person I am in this conversation. We will arrange to meet for a conversation and if we decide to work together then we start the work. That's it really.
  • When we meet I will ask some questions about your work, background, hopes and concerns and you will have plenty of opportunity to express what is on your mind.
  • You can ask me anything you want about myself and get a feeling for how we can work.
  • I'll encourage you to give and receive feedback, so that we can keep updating and working really effectively and at a good pace for you.
  • I'll ask you whether you want to speak from the top of your mind, or prefer to have me focus your thoughts with some incisive questions.
  • We'll agree what level of challenge you want from me, and what kind of support - this varies from person to person, and from day to day, depending on how robust we feel.
  • The goals may change during the time we work together, and we will both aim to openly navigate changes and stay on track, so that we can check that good progress is being made.
  • I can demonstrate some useful techniques for you to try in and out of the sessions, and we can agree practices for you to try in everyday life.
  • We can devise thought experiments together and notice the effects of these in a mindful way, to demonstrate how thinking effects our emotional and physical states.
  • My coaching is very collaborative, and we only do what you feel comfortable and interested to try.
