How is relational coaching unlike other types of coaching?
Relational Coaching is about you finding out what's right and what's possible for you, and then achieving it. Relational coaching works at a psychological depth, to address entrenched thoughts, behaviours and emotions. In addition you'll take away helpful development skills including mindfulness, self-belief and managing stress.

- Leadership Coaching If you're a leader your emphasis will tend to be on building self-trust, resilience and a sense of your own potency. Leaders often feel isolated and they appreciate the safe space I provide in which to explore ideas and to resolve inner conflicts without fear of exposure or over-vulnerability. My relational coaching style is ideally suited to leaders who want to experience challenge and to test themselves, knowing they can receive honest feedback which is offered with the intention of helping them grow.
- Executive Coaching Senior executives benefit from the balance of support and challenge I offer in a safe and confidential space, where you can try out your thoughts and ideas and get feedback from a professional and unbiased coach. If you're struggling with stress, new responsibilities, difficult colleagues or performance targets, a relational coaching approach can help.
- Personal Coaching I've described just a few of the typical personal development coaching areas on the Personal Development page. The coaching relationship is crucial in this work, as we use what happens in the coaching space to identify areas for development as well as noticing what is changing and where there may be areas of stuckness.
- Mindfulness Coaching Mindfulness places an emphasis on the precision of sustained awareness. The way I integrate it means it's very personal to you and will provide a rich source of additional reliable information to enhance your capability. Developing a felt sense enables you to trust your own judgement more of the time, and to manage any anxieties which tend to accompany change.
- Life Coaching This label encompasses every area of coaching, as coaching impacts all areas of our lives. If we make changes in our personal life, it affects how we feel and behave at work. If our work relationships improve, we become more confident and relate better outside work too.
- Performance coaching We may spend part of the sessions looking at your performance, but it is not purely about making you look good in the office! You can expect a lot more, including positive changes in your personal life.
- Skills coaching Unlike skills training, in relational coaching the focus is not on teaching or training you to become better at selling, for example. You will develop skills in self awareness, mindfulness and self management, which will have an impact in all areas of your work and personal life. We can test them out during sessions through role playing, empty chair work and mindfulness practices.
